Inspiring Words...

"This is your life. Do what you love, and do it often. If you don't like something, CHANGE it. If you don't like your job, QUIT. If you don't have enough time, stop watching tv. If you are looking for the love of your life, STOP. They will be waiting for you when you start doing things you LOVE.

Stop over analyzing, life is SIMPLE. All emotions are beautiful. When you eat, appreciate every last bite. Open your mind, arms, and heart to new things and people, we are UNITED in our differences. Travel often. Getting LOST will help you find yourself. Some opportunities only come once, SEIZE them.

Life is about the people you meet, and the things you CREATE with them so go out and start creating. Life is short. LIVE YOUR DREAM, & WEAR YOUR PASSION." -the Holstee Manifesto

The Guesthouse

A reading I incorporated into my class this morning I wanted to share...

The Guest House

This being human is a guest house-
every morning a new arrival-

A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness
Comes as an unexpected visitor-

Welcome and entertain them all~
Even if they are a crowd of sorrows
Who violently sweep your house
Empty of it's furniture-

Still treat each guest honorably~
She may be clearing you out for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice~
meet them at the door laughing and invite them in-

Be grateful for whom ever comes~
Because each has been sent as a guide from beyond.

The Invitation

A dear friend shared this poem with me and I wanted to share it with you...

The Invitation
It does not matter to me what you do for a living-
I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare to dream of meeting your hearts longing~
It does not interest me how old you are-
I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love,
for your dreams and for the adventure of being alive~

It does not interest me what planets are squaring your moon-
I want to know if you have touched the core of your sorrow.
If you have been opened by life's betrayals, or have become shriveled and closed from fear of further pain-
I want to know if you can be with your own joy
If you can dance with wildness, and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips
Of your fingers and toes without cautioning yourself to be careful, to be realistic or to remember the limitations of being human.

It does not interest me if the story you are telling me is true-
I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself
If you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul
If you can be faithful, and therefore trustworthy~
I want to know if you can see beauty, even when its not pretty everyday
and if you can source from your own life beauty's presence.
I want to know if you can live with your mistakes and still sit at the edge of the ocean and shout to the silver of the full moon "YES"~

It does not interest me to know where you live or how much money you have-
I want to know if you can get up after a night of grief and despair, weary and bruised to the bone and do what needs to be done for your family.
It does not interest me how you came to be here- I want to know if you will stand in the center of the fire with me and not shrink back~

It does not interest me where or what or with whom you have studied-
I want to know what sustains you from the inside when all else falls away
If you can be alone with yourself, and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments.

Thank you HJ

Yoga Mending Hearts

Yoga can help people who are working through the pain of a broken heart.  Whether the loss is a loved one, a relationship, a job aspiration, or any other thing that can cause pain.  Heart ache and break gives the body a lot of energy and stress to deal with- what better way then to incorporate yoga.  Asana that are great at mending the heart are heart-openers where the heart is up the the heavens and the shoulders are back.  Sometimes it is too much for a newly broken heart to jump right into this kind of asana.  If this is the case back bends are also great heart openers that do not place to much vulnerability on the heart alone.  Create positive mantra for yourself when you are feeling pain.  One I like is "This is the feeling of my heart healing."  Forward bends are great for calming and looking into the self.  One of the most important and healing aspects of yoga is the breath- so don't forget to breathe!!!
"Taking a step on the journey towards self-realization is incredibly empowering.  The gifts we get as a result of heartbreak are far greater than the love that was lost.  It is truly a time of reclaiming the greatest union of your life.  Therefore, incorporating yoga will bring more consciousness to this process- if you allow it." - Mandy Ingber
